The Vandals

The Vandals were a Germanic people who played a significant role in the decline of the Western Roman Empire. Originating in Central Europe, they migrated across Gaul and the Iberian Peninsula before establishing a powerful kingdom in North Africa, which they ruled for over a century until its conquest by the Eastern Roman Empire. Their most famous act, the Sack of Rome in 455 CE, led to the modern term "vandalism."
