The Trojan War

The Trojan War is a legendary conflict from ancient Greek mythology, famously depicted in <a href="/article/homer">Homer</a>'s <a href="/article/iliad">Iliad</a>. It describes a ten-year siege by a coalition of Greek kingdoms (Achaeans) against the city of <a href="/article/troy">Troy</a>, sparked by <a href="/article/paris-of-troy">Paris</a> of Troy's abduction of <a href="/article/helen-of-troy">Helen</a>, the wife of <a href="/article/menelaus">Menelaus</a>, King of Sparta. While its historicity is debated, archaeological findings suggest a real Bronze Age city at Hisarlık, Turkey, which may have inspired the epic tales.
