Theodosius I

Theodosius I, also known as Theodosius the Great, was the last Roman Emperor to rule over both the Eastern and Western halves of the Roman Empire, from 379 to 395 CE. He played a pivotal role in establishing Nicene Christianity as the official state religion and navigated complex military and political challenges, including ending the Gothic War and defeating several usurpers. His reign marked a critical transition point in Roman history, leading to the permanent division of the empire after his death.
