Stanford University: The Farm That Built Silicon Valley

Stanford University is a private research university in California, founded in 1885 by Leland and Jane Stanford in memory of their son. It grew from a financially shaky regional school into one of the world's most prestigious institutions, and its culture of entrepreneurship helped create Silicon Valley.
