The Soviet Union

The Soviet Union, officially the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), was a vast transcontinental communist state that existed from 1922 to 1991. It emerged from the Russian Revolution, became a global superpower after World War II, and engaged in a decades-long Cold War with the United States before its eventual dissolution.
