Sextus Afranius Burrus

Sextus Afranius Burrus was a powerful Roman official who served as the Prefect of the Praetorian Guard during the early years of Emperor Nero's reign. Alongside the philosopher Seneca, he was a key advisor who helped guide Nero and maintain stability in the Roman Empire during a period known as the "quinquennium Neronis." His death in AD 62 marked a significant turning point, after which Nero's rule became increasingly tyrannical.
