Seleucid Empire

The Seleucid Empire was a vast Hellenistic state founded by Seleucus I Nicator, one of Alexander the Great's generals, after Alexander's death. Spanning much of the Near East, it was a major center for the spread of Greek culture and language, blending Hellenistic traditions with local customs. Despite its initial power, the empire gradually declined due to internal conflicts and external pressures from rivals like Rome and Parthia, eventually being annexed by the Roman Republic.
