The Roman Kingdom was the earliest period of ancient Roman history, traditionally lasting from the city's founding in 753 BC until the overthrow of its kings in 509 BC. During this time, Rome was ruled by a series of monarchs who held supreme religious, executive, and judicial power, laying the foundational institutions and myths that would shape the later Roman Republic and Empire.
