Rogervik Fortress

Rogervik Fortress was a massive, ambitious, but ultimately unfinished naval fortress and port project initiated by <a href="/article/peter-the-great">Peter the Great</a> of Russia in the early 18th century, located in what is now <a href="/article/paldiski">Paldiski</a>, Estonia. Intended to be a key Baltic Sea naval base and a bulwark against Swedish power, its construction involved immense human and material resources but faced significant challenges and was eventually abandoned after Peter's death. Today, its remnants stand as a historical monument to an era of grand imperial ambitions.
