Puumala Virus

The Puumala virus is a type of hantavirus primarily found in Europe and Russia, carried by bank voles. It causes a mild form of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome in humans, known as nephropathia epidemica, characterized by fever, headache, and kidney issues. Transmission occurs mainly through inhaling aerosols from rodent excretions.
