The Punic Wars were a series of three monumental conflicts fought between the Roman Republic and the Carthaginian Empire from 264 to 146 BCE. These wars, primarily over control of the Western Mediterranean, ultimately led to the complete destruction of Carthage and established Rome as the dominant power of the ancient world.
