Pugachev's Rebellion was the largest peasant revolt in Russian history, lasting from 1773 to 1775. Led by the Cossack Yemelyan Pugachev, who claimed to be the deposed Tsar Peter III, it challenged the rule of Catherine the Great and sought to end serfdom and noble privilege. Though ultimately crushed, it exposed deep social unrest and significantly impacted imperial policy.
