President of the United States

The president of the United States is the head of state and head of government, commander-in-chief of the armed forces, and the single most powerful elected official in the country. The office was created by Article II of the Constitution in 1787, and since George Washington took office in 1789 it has grown into one of the most influential political roles in the world.
