Pompey the Great

Pompey the Great was a powerful Roman general and statesman who played a central role in the dramatic final decades of the Roman Republic. Initially a protégé of the dictator Sulla, he achieved immense military success, earning the title "Magnus" (the Great). His later alliance with Julius Caesar and Marcus Crassus formed the First Triumvirate, but their eventual rivalry plunged Rome into a devastating civil war, ending in Pompey's defeat and assassination.
