Operation Torch

Operation Torch was the first major Anglo-American invasion during World War II, launched in November 1942. It involved Allied forces landing in French North Africa (Morocco and Algeria) to secure the region, open a new front against the Axis powers, and pave the way for the eventual invasion of Italy. The operation was a strategic success, despite initial resistance from Vichy French forces.
