Operation Market Garden

Operation Market Garden was a major Allied airborne and ground offensive fought in the German-occupied Netherlands from 17 to 25 September 1944. Its goal was to seize a chain of bridges and punch a corridor into northern Germany, but the plan failed at the final bridge at Arnhem. It remains the largest airborne operation of World War II and one of the war's most debated "bridge too far" campaigns.
