Operation Husky

Operation Husky was the Allied invasion of Sicily during World War II, launched on July 10, 1943. It was the largest amphibious operation of its time, involving American, British, and Canadian forces, and aimed to secure the island, open Mediterranean shipping lanes, and pave the way for the invasion of mainland Italy. The successful campaign led to the overthrow of Benito Mussolini and significantly impacted the course of the war.
