Niko Tinbergen: Pioneer of Ethology

Niko Tinbergen was a Dutch biologist and ornithologist who, alongside Konrad Lorenz and Karl von Frisch, founded the scientific discipline of ethology, the study of animal behavior. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1973 for his groundbreaking work on the organization and elicitation of animal behavior patterns, developing a rigorous experimental approach to understanding instinct and its evolutionary significance.
