The Munich Agreement

The Munich Agreement was a 1938 pact between Nazi Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Italy, which allowed Germany to annex the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia. Intended to prevent war, it became a symbol of failed appeasement, as <a href="/article/adolf-hitler">Adolf Hitler</a> soon broke his promises and occupied the rest of Czechoslovakia, paving the way for World War II.
