Marcus Aurelius

Marcus Aurelius was a Roman Emperor from 161 to 180 CE and a profound Stoic philosopher. Often called the "philosopher king," he was the last of the Five Good Emperors and his reign marked the end of the Pax Romana, a period of relative peace, as he faced numerous military conflicts and a devastating plague. His personal reflections, known as *Meditations*, remain a cornerstone of Stoic philosophy and a guide for ethical living.
