Lucius Junius Gallio Annaeanus

Lucius Junius Gallio Annaeanus was a Roman senator and the elder brother of the famous philosopher Seneca the Younger. He is primarily known for his brief but significant appearance in the New Testament, where he, as proconsul of Achaea, dismissed a legal case brought against Paul the Apostle, providing a crucial fixed date in early Christian history. His life ended tragically, likely by forced suicide, during the purges under Emperor Nero.
