Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was a German polymath, widely considered the most influential writer in the German language. His vast body of work, spanning poetry, drama, novels, scientific treatises, and philosophy, profoundly shaped Western thought and culture from the late 18th century onwards. He was a central figure in both the Sturm und Drang and Weimar Classicism literary movements.
