James D. Watson: The Co-Discoverer of DNA's Double Helix

James D. Watson was an American molecular biologist who, with Francis Crick, discovered the double helix structure of DNA in 1953 — one of the most important scientific breakthroughs of the 20th century. He later led Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and helped launch the Human Genome Project, but his legacy was permanently stained by racist and misogynistic remarks.
