Iranian Intervention in the Syrian Civil War
Iran's intervention in the Syrian Civil War was a critical military, financial, and political effort to support the Bashar al-Assad regime against rebel forces and prevent its collapse. Driven by strategic interests, Iran deployed its own forces and numerous proxy militias, significantly shaping the conflict's outcome and regional power dynamics until its withdrawal in December 2024.
