Hans Speidel was a German general who served in three different armies across two World Wars and the Cold War. He was a key figure in West Germany's post-WWII rearmament and integration into NATO, becoming the first full general of the Bundeswehr and commanding Allied Land Forces Central Europe. Speidel was also a participant in the 20 July Plot to assassinate Hitler.
