Gharana

A Gharana is a system in <a href="/article/hindustani-classical-music">Hindustani classical music</a> and dance that links musicians or dancers through lineage or apprenticeship, united by a particular musical or dance style. Originating from the Hindi word 'ghar' (house), it represents a distinct school of thought and performance tradition passed down through generations. These traditions are often associated with specific geographical locations where they originated or flourished under patronage.
