George C. Marshall

George C. Marshall was a highly decorated American military officer and diplomat who played a pivotal role in the 20th century. He served as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army during World War II, overseeing the largest military expansion in American history, and later as Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense. Marshall is best known for the Marshall Plan, a massive aid program that helped rebuild post-war Europe, for which he received the Nobel Peace Prize.
