First French Empire

The First French Empire, led by <a href="/article/napoleon-bonaparte">Napoleon Bonaparte</a>, dominated much of continental Europe in the early 19th century. It reshaped European politics, law, and society through military conquest and the spread of revolutionary ideals, before its eventual collapse after <a href="/article/napoleon-bonaparte">Napoleon</a>'s defeat.
