Draco of Athens

Draco was the first recorded lawgiver of ancient Athens, active around 621/620 BCE. He introduced the city's first written legal code, known for its extreme harshness, which gave rise to the term "draconian." While most of his laws were later repealed by Solon, his distinction between intentional and unintentional homicide had a lasting impact on Athenian law.
