Daryl Chapin

Daryl Chapin was an American physicist best known for his pivotal role in co-inventing the modern silicon solar cell in 1954 at Bell Labs. His work, alongside Calvin S. Fuller and Gerald Pearson, transformed the potential of solar energy, laying the groundwork for its widespread use in space and eventually on Earth. He was recognized for this groundbreaking achievement with induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
