Born Rule

The Born Rule is a fundamental principle in <a href="/article/quantum-mechanics">quantum mechanics</a> that connects the mathematical description of a quantum system (its <a href="/article/wavefunction">wavefunction</a>) to the probabilities of observing specific outcomes when a measurement is made. It states that the probability of finding a particle in a certain state or position is proportional to the square of the magnitude of its wavefunction's amplitude at that point.
