Attalus the Stoic

Attalus the Stoic was an influential Roman philosopher from the early 1st century CE, best known as the teacher of <a href="/article/seneca-the-younger">Seneca the Younger</a>. He advocated for a practical and rigorous form of Stoicism, emphasizing self-sufficiency, indifference to external goods, and daily philosophical exercises to build resilience and virtue. Though his own writings are lost, his teachings profoundly shaped Seneca's thought and offer valuable insights into ancient Stoic practice.
