The Antigonid Dynasty was a Macedonian Greek royal family that ruled the Kingdom of Macedon during the Hellenistic period. Founded by Antigonus I Monophthalmus, a general of Alexander the Great, it emerged from the chaotic Wars of the Diadochi and became a dominant power in mainland Greece until its defeat by the Roman Republic in 168 BC.
