The Anglo-Russian Convention of 1907

The Anglo-Russian Convention of 1907 was a treaty between the British and Russian Empires that ended their long-running rivalry in Central Asia, known as the "Great Game." It divided Persia into spheres of influence and recognized Russian dominance in northern Persia while giving Britain control in the southeast, also covering Afghanistan and Tibet. This agreement paved the way for the Triple Entente, which would later fight against Germany in World War I.
